Seasonal wildlife tour
Rocky Point Whale Watching
Search the Sea of Cortez for migrating whales during Rocky Point's winter whale-watching season.
The experience
What makes Rocky Point Whale Watching worth choosing.
The details that matter most—from the atmosphere and route to what your group should expect on the day.
Winter brings migrating whales into the northern Sea of Cortez. This seasonal cruise leaves Puerto Peñasco to search responsibly for blows, tails and other signs of activity. Every departure is different: the crew uses local knowledge, but wildlife sightings can never be guaranteed.
Whale watching is seasonal, normally from January through mid-March. Trips remain off sale outside that window, and even in season sightings depend on natural migration and can never be guaranteed.

Rocky Point Whale Watching planning guide
Clear answers before you choose a date.
Review timing, inclusions, meeting instructions, conditions and booking rules in one place. Your confirmation remains the final source for departure-specific details.
01When is whale season?+
The usual Rocky Point season runs from January into mid-March, but exact dates depend on migration and operating conditions.
02Are whale sightings guaranteed?+
No. Whales are wild animals, so no responsible operator can guarantee a sighting.
03Where do we meet?+
The meeting point depends on the operator and departure. Your confirmation includes a map, arrival time and local contact details.
04What should I bring?+
Bring sun protection, comfortable clothing, a photo ID and any personal medication. Water activities may require a towel and a dry change of clothes.
05What happens if weather affects the tour?+
Safety comes first. If the operator cannot run because of weather, a Port Captain closure or another safety issue, the amount paid becomes a booking credit valid for 12 months instead of a cash refund.
Current operating status
Rocky Point Whale Watching is out of season.
Online booking is closed outside the normal January through mid-March whale season. Check back when the seasonal calendar reopens.
