Sea lions and snorkeling
Bird Island Adventure
A full-day Sea of Cortez adventure with sea lions, snorkeling, kayaking and paddleboarding.
The experience
What makes Bird Island Adventure worth choosing.
The details that matter most—from the atmosphere and route to what your group should expect on the day.
Bird Island, also known as Isla San Jorge, is one of the most memorable day trips from Puerto Peñasco. The journey crosses open water to a protected island habitat where sea lions gather. Conditions determine the day's exact activity sequence, and wildlife encounters are always kept respectful.
The long open-water crossing and wildlife setting make this a true full-day adventure. Sea conditions control which snorkeling, kayaking and paddleboarding activities can safely operate.

Bird Island Adventure planning guide
Clear answers before you choose a date.
Review timing, inclusions, meeting instructions, conditions and booking rules in one place. Your confirmation remains the final source for departure-specific details.
01Can I touch the sea lions?+
No. Wildlife should be observed respectfully, and crew instructions must always be followed.
02Is the water always calm?+
No. This is an open-water trip and conditions can change. The captain decides what activities are safe.
03Where do we meet?+
The meeting point depends on the operator and departure. Your confirmation includes a map, arrival time and local contact details.
04What should I bring?+
Bring sun protection, comfortable clothing, a photo ID and any personal medication. Water activities may require a towel and a dry change of clothes.
05What happens if weather affects the tour?+
Safety comes first. If the operator cannot run because of weather, a Port Captain closure or another safety issue, the amount paid becomes a booking credit valid for 12 months instead of a cash refund.
